Changing system
What questions should I ask a golf club software supplier?
Ask where the data is hosted, what happens to it if you leave, and whether the export is complete. Then ask whether the tee sheet, competitions, members, the till and the accounts are one database or several, and whether the member's app is the same product or somebody else's.
The facts
- Where is our data hosted, who can see it, and is it encrypted?
- If we leave, do we get everything, in a form we can use?
- Is this one system, or modules bolted onto older software?
- Is the member app yours, and does it write to the same records as the club system?
- Is the price per club or per member, and are there per-transaction fees?
- How long does the move take, and do both systems run in parallel while we are learning?
How Paralo does it
Paralo's answers to those six: hosted in the UK, encrypted, never shared; a full export if you leave and no lock-in; one system built from scratch; our own app on iPhone and Apple Watch writing to the same records; priced per club with no per-transaction fees; most clubs live within 4 to 6 weeks with both systems running in parallel until the club is confident.
