Why do golf clubs run so many different systems?

Because club software grew up one problem at a time: a tee sheet, then a handicap package, then a till, then a website, then an app, each bought separately and joined by hand afterwards. A club can end up relying on more than twenty separate software products, and a golfer on several apps to play one round.

How Paralo does it

The intention is that the complexity sits underneath the product rather than with the golfer or the club team. In Paralo a booking made in the app is the booking on the tee sheet, a card returned from the phone is the row on the leaderboard and on the clubhouse display, and a plate read at the gate is the arrival on the Today page. Nothing is re-keyed, because there is nowhere to re-key it to.
